Religious and cultural programs are important in this channel and Ayna is one of the beloved and most watched programs of that channel. Ayna has been on air since and Saim Orhan who is the host of the program, continues to travel all around the world and make documentaries.

Channel embraced a globalist position in modernity discussions. Acun Firarda was a travel program aired between and It was seen that Acun travels to Western and touristic countries rather than African countries in contrast to Ayna by Sami Orhan.

I argue that in Ayna localization is emphasized; preservation of customs and holding to traditions is focused during program whereas in Acun Firarda, people are encouraged to integrate with the rest of the world and globalization and superiority of Western world is emphasized. Acun Firarda uses western music in program.

However, in Ayna, even in the opening theme song is a song which includes reed flute. This reed flute is especially used in Islamic mysticism in Turkish culture and has some religious meaning. In addition to that, Ayna especially emphasizes local music of countries they visit, they introduce local music, music instruments and even local dances.

As I mentioned above Acun Firarda tries to encourage people to come and visit Western world and Acun does this by using a very traditional method: Sex sells! During the program Acun insists on to show very beautiful and attractive girls, especially on the beach. He keeps using sex to encourage you to integrate with the rest of the world. As you can guess, these girls are always very beautiful girls. By saying that he probably means you can come here, buy these clothes and become as chic as these girls.

On the other hand, in Ayna, you have no possibility to see such beautiful girls. Program films people working in market and earning their lives in hard way. Sexuality has no place in that show. Poor conditions of countries are filmed and these are not encouraging at all. By saying that he implies that they are happy with the way they live, they do not need flamboyant life styles as in the Western world to become happy.

He can speak some of them fluently while he is in intermediate level at some of these languages. He uses these languages to communicate with foreign people, especially with girls. It is obvious that being able to speak a foreign language is compulsory for globalization and integration. With his ability to speak foreign languages and his courage to use his intermediate knowledge about foreign languages, Acun is a role model for people who are willing to learn different languages.

He also breaks the taboos about languages in Turkey. On contrary, Sami Orhan generally prefers not to speak Western languages. He is able to speak English and French but in his visits to especially African countries, he tries to use their local languages with the help of a translator.

In his visit to again Togo, he greets people with their own language. People can speak French in some old French colonies but Saim Orhan prefers to use local language rather than French. He often asks translator how to say things in local language. In his personal website it is said that Saim Orhan is capable of speaking some of these local languages and tries to learn more before his visits.

This attitude is a sign of respect to local traits. Since main aim of Acun is to attract people to foreign countries, he keeps showing night life of these cities. He always visits bars and night clubs and show glorious life style of that world. You should not have doubts that Acun shows pretty girls in this clubs as well. In addition to that, Acun also talks about behaviors you should have in night life. He mentions how you should dress up, how you should talk, behave and even dance in bar.

They give more than 10 minutes to hotels and say Vegas is famous for its hotels. They briefly mention about the casinos there and exactly say. What happens here follows you during your lifetime. People come here to enjoy but most lives also faded out here.

Lots of young people passed away here due to alcohol and drugs…. And then they visit Turkish people who teach Turkish to Americans in Vegas and praise them a lot. They speak with Americans learning Turkish and make them to compliment Turkey and Turkish culture.

The subliminal message here is that even Americans learn our culture, our language and there is nothing here to emulate here. On the other side, Acun travels to Vegas and immediately shows the casinos, fast night lives of people, lovers and glamorous style of West. Acun also visits some local festivals such as Barranquila Festival in Colombia. However, he never uses these festivals to praise local attributes. He uses these festivals to show world in a more attractive way.

He constantly shows parties during festival. Ayna also visits a festival in California. However, this festival is the Festival of Anatolian Cultures. Again, even in America, Ayna emphasized the being Turkish and its greatness. They are all glorified since they prefer representing our own culture rather than integrating with other cultures.

A group of beautiful people tells about our culture to the ones who do not know about us and they do great job here. That Armenian has relatives living in Turkey and himself used to live in Turkey long time before and Saim Orhan interviews with him in Turkish. People who are devoted to their own culture are central in this show. Ayna actually includes some hostility towards West. In their visit to Rwanda, it is mentioned how Belgians divided society into tribes and let them fight with each other.

When genocide is taking place, civilized world, United Nations and exploiter Western countries has just watched what was happening here and 1 million people lost their lives. Everybody keeps partying and having best times of their lives.

Therefore, you should visit these countries and to become happy. This people happy with what they get and you should be happy with what you have as well.
